TradeWinds promotes four in expectation of expansion

Sep 26, 2023

Raleigh, N.C. – (Sept. 5, 2023) – Raleigh investment firm TradeWinds today announced the promotions of four team members who will build the organization for sustained, multi-market growth. TradeWinds, created to break away from financial advisory norms, plans to replicate its investing model in Raleigh and across the state. To position for growth, Stephanie Williams, CFP® has been named president, a newly created role.

Additionally, Miller Hoffman was promoted to vice president of Client Experience, Tracey Nobles to vice president of Finance and Operations, and Mike Manganillo to vice president of Sales and Marketing – a position few financial planning institutions offer. All three roles are newly created for client service as well as firm infrastructure and all will report directly to Williams.

“As TradeWinds grows, clients remain our priority, and they need to know we see them,” says founder and CEO Tim Whitney. “Stephanie gets that. She advises with thoughtfulness and empathy, and her high emotional IQ is a welcome skill that brings a fresh approach to the president function, which traditionally focuses on metrics, department efficiency, and profit margin. Her ability to value people over corporate growth has served TradeWinds well and will continue to do so in her new role.”

A 20-year veteran of the industry, Williams is tasked with leading day-to-day activities at TradeWinds and will work alongside Whitney to expand client service and planning strategy to individuals of every net worth. Williams earned her stripes as a financial advisor with Smith Barney then served as a financial consultant for Wells Fargo Advisors until becoming a portfolio manager and financial planner with TradeWinds upon its founding in 2021. A Certified Financial Planner™, Williams earned her business finance degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her MBA from Elon University. She believes in creating a meaningful work environment while holding true to company principles of integrity and accountability.

“TradeWinds isn’t designed as a typical registered investment advisor firm, and it’s what I love most about the company,” says Williams. “My role is to protect our core business, which is our clients and advisors that service them. I’ve watched TradeWinds grow from an idea into a remarkable business that truly puts people before profits, and I’m honored to complement Tim’s leadership while working alongside an incredibly talented team.”
